Greystone GT add Mercedes-AMG for British GT with Price and Macleod

February 15, 2023

Greystone GT are delighted to add an all-new driver line-up and a new brand to the Silverstone team’s British GT Championship programme for 2023.

Mike Price and Callum Macleod will step up to the series with a Forelle Estates-sponsored Mercedes-AMG GT3 similar to the car that claimed last year’s overall Drivers’ and Teams’ titles.

They will partner Andrey Borodin and Oli Webb; announced last month aboard a McLaren 720S GT3.

Mike, who lives in the New Forest, Hampshire, began racing in 2017 in the Porsche Club Championship, collecting numerous podium finishes across a number of full and part-time campaigns including Britcar Endurance and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain.

He stepped up to the GT Cup in 2021, finishing third with Callum in the GTH standings with a win at Oulton Park in a GT4 McLaren. The pair then took two victories in the top GT3 class last year aboard the Mercedes-AMG on their way to fifth in the points.

Prior to these achievements, Callum was already the 2007 Formula Ford UK Champion and the 2010 European F3 Open series runner-up before switching to GT racing.

A class winner on his debut at the 24 Hours of Spa in 2015 and a podium finish at the 2021 Gulf 12 Hours as well as multiple wins in British GT and the GT Cup make him one of the most highly-regarded professional sportscar racers in the UK.

Greystone GT, meanwhile, debuted in British GT last year and scored five podium finishes in the Silver-Am class in their rookie season; ending the year with the team’s best class and outright qualifying performances to date.

The British GT Championship gets underway at Oulton Park, Cheshire, on Easter Monday, April 9.

Mike Price said: “I’m excited to step up to the British GT Championship with Greystone GT and Callum. He and I have raced together for the past two years and every time we’ve moved up a level, our performance level has raised with it. That’s absolutely the aim this year, which will be the first time for a while that I’ve had the same car two years in a row. Greystone GT are a new team for me, but I think they’re the right fit. Mark [McLoughlin] has built a proper racing business with the right infrastructure to continue growing and has lots of good people within the team; something that was obvious from racing against them over the past two years. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

Callum Macleod said: “I’m looking forward to the new season, which will be my first full-time year in British GT since 2019. Mike was keen to step up to British GT this year and Greystone GT do seem to be the ideal fit for us for the coming season. Mike’s progress was rapid in GT3 across his rookie season in 2022 and he was easily the most-improved driver in the class in GT Cup. I’ve won races in British GT throughout my career in the series so I know what I can reasonably expect from myself and from the Mercedes-AMG, and if Mike can continue to progress at the rate he’s shown over the past few years, I think we can aim for podiums by the end of the season.”

Mark McLoughlin, Team Principal, said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Mike and Callum to Greystone GT; two drivers we’ve raced against extensively in both GT4 and GT3 over the past two years in the GT Cup. Mike has shown immense progress over the past two seasons and we’ll do everything we can to help continue that in 2023 as we target strong results throughout the campaign. It will be our first time running the Mercedes-AMG GT3, which is very exciting and means we’ll have three different GT3 models representing us on racetracks in various series this year. The test programme with the Mercedes-AMG starts in a few weeks as we work to make sure we’re ready to hit the ground running at Oulton.”
